Attendance 20
Apologies Malcolm & Kay Reynolds

Current position – Marc Thorne, Acquisition Steering Group.
Chapel closed in 2021, a village meeting was held, attended by 60 and a steering group
was set up. Following a meeting with the then circuit leader we indicated our interest and
preference for purchase, and they seemed to be supportive.
However the decision lies with Head office in Manchester who indicated that the Chapel
will be put up for sale on the open Market without planning, [we have not been formally
informed of this despite indicating in writing our desire to acquire the Chapel as a
community hall].

An application has been submitted by the group to have the Chapel registered with
Cornwall CC as a Community Asset, which would restrict sale on the open market for 6
months to only community organisations.

There have been 2 other village meetings held and a Questionnaire circulated to identify
village support to acquire the Chapel. The response was lower than expected but a group
of villagers felt that it was worth pursuing acquisition of the chapel for the benefit of the
village.

The current Steering Group will now cease to exist. Marc indicated that he did not wish to
sit on a new Committee, but would assist in applying to become a formal Charitable
organisation.

General discussion and sharing of information to bring everyone up to date and clarify
queries.

In order to create a formal organisation to enable us to move forward it was agreed to
create a ‘Charitable Incorporated Organisation’. The application to the Charity Commission
and Constitution would be prepared and submitted by Marc Thorne.

Name of the Organisation and Hall. It was agreed that the organisation would be THE
NANSTALLON COMMUNITY TRUST and the Hall would be called THE NANSTALLON
COMMUNITY HALL.
There were suggestions that it would be nice to name the Hall after individuals connected
with it. It was agreed that perhaps individual rooms could be named.
